Clark Rians, M.D. appreciates having the opportunity to help people relieve their pain every day. In his role at Great Plains, Dr. Rians focuses on the musculoskeletal system and works in conjunction with therapists and trainers to alleviate ankle, knee, hip, shoulder and spine pain.

Dr. Rians quotes Mother Teresa, “We can do no great things, only small things through great love.” He feels that seeing patients and teaching musculoskeletal medicine are his own small way of contributing to something much larger than himself.

A member of the American College of Physicians and American College of Sports Medicine, Dr. Rians is committed to ongoing education and educating others. He received the Faculty Teaching Award from the Department of Internal Medicine, OSF Saint Francis Medical Center / UICOMP in 2007. Some of his most important research is related to the conclusion that strength training can be effective and safe (when supervised) in 9 to 11-year-old boys.

When not caring for patients, Dr. Rians enjoys drawing, oil painting, acting, reading and dog walking. He also enjoys discussing movies with fellow Great Plains physician Dr. Jason Anane-Sefah. And he cooks – a little.
